Hula is the ancient Hawaiian oral tradition of storytelling, which develops listening skills, enhances verbal expression, increases comprehension, creates mental images, and highlights verbal reasoning.
Tiare's passion for making learning fun inspires her to design programs that develop sensory and visual learning skills by integrating cultural arts with subjects such as history, geography, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies.
"...[Tiare] Kahana's topic: "Mindful Habits-Thinking & Action" was a perfect addition to this year's program. I visited her session and was immediately impressed by her emotional tone, vocabulary, and interactive content that characterized her lesson. The content of her presentaton was developmentally appropriate to the age group and paced with great care. From initiation, to lesson development, to closure, Kahana managed the lesson beautifully. I enthusiastically recommend her mindfulness program as a great addition to you!"
-David Maloney, CT Association of Schools Director of Student Activities, March 20, 2018
"It is a pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Tiare [Kahana] Bourget. I have worked with her this school year in two different inter district programs that promote both diversity and the arts.
Her passion for the dance and teaching others is inspiring! I admire the commitment she has made to the children’s learning through the art of dance to all 150 students in my programs. Her passion and genuine concern and love for the children were ever present when teaching. She successfully weaves arts integrating in each lesson. Her gentle way of teaching commands attention from the students. I often heard her say that she learns from the student, which is a testimony to her humble spirit.
I feel she is a person of exceptional character and would be an asset if asked to join any organization."
